Shaping the Steel Strategy
UK Steel's Parliamentary Steel Summit, held on 2 December from 4pm will open with an address from the Secretary of State. 
The Steel Strategy
The Government will publish a ‘steel strategy’ in spring 2025. This event will help to shape and set out the sector vision of what the strategy can achieve if Government, industry, and trade unions work together in partnership to: 

1. Deliver a competitive business landscape to attract investment in the sector 

2. Level the playing field to give industry a fair chance to gain market share 

3. Strategic expansion of steelmaking capacity and capability.

The summit will open with a keynote speech from Business Secretary, Jonathan Reynolds
Panel Discussion
Following the Ministerial opening address, UK Steel Director General, Gareth Stace, will chair a panel debate, with experts from Parliament, unions, industry and the renewable energy sector. 

This will be followed by a question and answer session and a Parliamentary drinks reception. 

Speakers include:

- Tim Pick OBE, Chair, Offshore Wind Growth Partnership, author of the 2023 landmark report into the sector and the UK’s first “Offshore Wind Champion”.

- Roy Rickhuss CBE, General Secretary, Community Union, TUC General Council, and Executive Council of the General Federation of Trade Unions.

Roz Bulleid, Research and Policy Director at Green Alliance.

- Jonathan Brash, MP for Hartlepool and Chair, All-Party Parliamentary Group for Steel and Metals Related Industries.

- Liam Bates, President, Long Products, Marcegaglia Stainless Sheffield.

with a reception, festive drinks and nibbles
