In response to the US Supreme Court striking down the global tariffs introduced by the US President, which also impacted steel, Peter Brennan, Director, Trade & Economics Policy, UK Steel, said:
"The existing 25% tariff applied to UK steel will not be impacted by this change as President Trump's steel and aluminium tariffs were introduced specifically under Section 232 for national security purposes. However, the UK and US have been in negotiations to lower this tariff rate to zero and we are still hopeful for this outcome."
